Informational Essay
In Colonial times families were just like us now, but the roles, food, and rules were a little different. All families had to work together to get the days work done so they could relax at the end of the day.So you see how they are just like us now. Now I’ll tell you why we’re “so different”.
Father
The father did the most work. He was the head of the family. He would always lead the family in the daily prayer. The father would always be the "bad cop" in the family. He also could be recreational though. It did not matter what class of man you were you would always participate in hunting and fishing to feed your family.
Mother
As for the mother she would do all of the work around the house and care for the kids. She would do laundry and any kind of other cleaning ever needed. She would also have to make three meals a day for her family. The food would be something like bread and milk for breakfast. For dinner one food from each category of food. For supper bread and milk. To add on to all of that she would go to sewing circles and such for her own enjoyment.
Children
Finally the children. If you were a wealthy kid you would go to school. If you were not, you would stay home. A boy/man would help his father with his trade if he was poor.A boy/man would go with his father on fishing or hunting trips with his father for fun. A girl/woman would help her mother in the house with chores and what not and help care for younger siblings. A girl would play with a doll for her own enjoyment.
Conclusion
Now you see why we are “so different“right. The father now is like the colonial father because he fishes and hunts just like colonial fathers. The mother now is like the colonial mother because she has to take care of the kids at least when they are young. The boy is alike to the colonial boy because they both would do activities with their fathers. The girl is like the colonial girl because they both play with dolls.
